The Randy Dorton Hendrick Engine Builder Showdown presented by Valvoline was named in tribute to the legendary Hendrick Motorsports innovator. The event pairs 12 Hendrick Automotive Group Certified Master Technicians and 12 Hendrick Motorsports engine builders in a two round, two-day competition with the winners determined by the quickest time and least number of errors.
The event is held on the campus of Hendrick Motorsports in Concord, North Carolina.
Teams assemble 358-cubic-inch Chevrolet engines similar to the fuel-injected engines that run every NASCAR Cup Series weekend. Builders are working with 243 parts in total.
Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports values its teammates and places a heavy emphasis on unique recognition programs, and this is the biggest partnership event of the year for the two organizations.
The 19th annual Randy Dorton Hendrick Engine Builder Showdown will be presented by Valvoline in 2020 at HendrickEBS.com.
